Freeze-dried apples are dried apples that have undergone the process of freeze-drying (lyophilisation). This process allows the fruit to retain its natural colour, shape, nutrients and flavour, but without water.
Benefits of freeze-dried apples:
✅ Retain nutritional value – Vitamins and minerals are preserved better than with traditional drying.
✅ Crunchy texture – They have a light and crunchy consistency, similar to crisps.
✅ Long shelf life – No preservatives, yet they can last for months or years if stored properly.
✅ Easy to use – Can be eaten directly as a snack, added to muesli, yoghurt, cakes or even rehydrated and used like fresh fruit.
Shelf life of freeze-dried apples:
✅ Unopened – If stored in a dry, dark place in tightly sealed packaging, they can last 1 to 2 years, and sometimes even longer.
✅ Opened – Once opened, if they are not exposed to moisture and are well sealed, they can last for several months (around 3–6 months). However, if they absorb moisture from the air, they can quickly become soft and lose their crunch.
