In the fertile fields of Slavonia and Baranja, the Vučemilović-Šimunović family began cultivating the queen of squashes: nutmeg squash, or better known as butternut squash. Not only is it the tastiest of squashes, but it is also a true nutritional eldorado. It is rich in a wide range of vitamins and minerals, and boasts a fine aroma. It is used in cooking to prepare both sweet and savoury dishes, and squash soup is famous far and wide. That is why it earned the name “nutmeg” or “fragrant” squash. In recent years, more and more young families with children have been using butternut squash for feeding their little ones, as one of the first foods after breastfeeding – because it is sweet without sugar!
