Acacia is a deciduous tree of the Fabaceae family, native to North America, just like amorpha. It is widespread throughout the lowland regions of Croatia. Its flowers are fragrant, set on short stalks and gathered in long, drooping clusters. It is considered a top-grade melliferous plant; owing to the fertile soil, trees in the lowlands yield much more nectar than those in higher regions. Acacia honey is light in colour, with a subtle aroma and a very mild, pleasant taste. It contains more fructose than glucose, which is why it crystallises very slowly and remains liquid for longer than other honey varieties. The ancient Greeks and Romans were already using honey back in ancient times as a remedy to treat the body for numerous ailments.
Acacia honey is especially helpful in easing cold and flu symptoms, as well as respiratory system conditions such as bronchitis, sore throat, and sinus issues. It is also used as a natural antiseptic that quickly and effectively soothes painful areas. It is good for the cardiovascular and digestive systems, strengthens immunity, and helps with frequent insomnia. Our acacia honey won this year's silver medal of the Republic of Croatia, and you can see its quality for yourself!
