Its main ingredient is silymarin – a complex of various compounds that together play a role in liver regeneration and protection.

Silymarin is a powerful antioxidant, up to 10 times stronger than vitamin E. It increases glutathione levels, which cleanse the liver of a wide spectrum of toxins, by 35%. Milk thistle has a protective and restorative effect on the liver in cases of inflammation, cirrhosis, fatty liver, enlarged or swollen liver, jaundice, gallbladder disease, gallbladder cramps (gallstones) and spleen disease. The tincture is used to treat liver cancer, as well as alongside chemotherapy due to its anti-cancer properties. Preliminary medical research shows that silymarin could actively work to prevent the growth of prostate cancer cells.
